Current Residents

Alanna Ambrosius, PharmD

Alanna is from Monico, Wisconsin and earned both her Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her areas of interest include critical care, infectious diseases, and oncology. She is excited to be pushed outside of her comfort zone this year with opportunities to participate in new experiences such as the emergency medicine elective. Other electives selected this year include nutritional support and outpatient oncology. Her year-long residency project will examine attainment of area under the curve targets and incidence of nephrotoxicity utilizing local pharmacokinetic vancomycin dosing guidelines. Alanna’s hobbies include outdoor activities such as running, hiking, and snowboarding. She also enjoys attending concerts and other theatrical performances with family and friends.

Nicole Weinfurter, PharmD

Nicole grew up in Wausau, WI and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 2015. She graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2019. Her primary areas of interest are cardiology and diabetes. Throughout the PGY-1 residency year, Nicole is interested in expanding her clinical knowledge throughout the variety of rotations offered at St. Clare’s and is looking forward to opportunities to precept pharmacy students. She will be completing elective rotations in emergency medicine, nutritional support and outpatient oncology. Her year-long residency project is focusing on the use of subcutaneous insulin for hyperglycemia management at St. Clare’s specifically looking at the current medication use process and evaluating current inpatient hyperglycemia management and the incidence of hypoglycemia.

While not in the pharmacy, Nicole enjoys spending time with her husband and stepchildren, whether they are enjoying time together outside or playing board games. She also enjoys reading, talking about her cat, “artsy-crafty” hobbies like scrapbooking, and baking - especially cupcakes!
