Residency Program Director's Welcome

Welcome from Jeanne Gast-Jenquin!

Ascension NE Wisconsin- St. Elizabeth Hospital is a medium sized community hospital located in Appleton, Wisconsin in the beautiful Fox River valley.  While maintaining the warm atmosphere of a community hospital, it offers advanced services that go beyond those typically expected from a hospital its size and serves as the tertiary referral hospital for the northern region of Ascension Wisconsin. Examples of these services include inpatient behavioral health services for all age groups including adolescents and geriatrics, a neonatal intensive care unit, a fully integrated and accredited cancer center providing inpatient and outpatient services as well as clinical trials, an active emergency department, and comprehensive inpatient and outpatient cardiology services.

The training program at Ascension NE Wisconsin - St. Elizabeth Hospital provides preceptors who are both challenging and supportive. Our rotations have one primary preceptor and utilize a team teaching model, which allows learners to experience different teaching styles and gain exposure to multiple subject matter experts.  Elective opportunities in clinical and administrative practice areas allow residents to customize the program to their interests.  Residents provide staffing in our central pharmacy as well as on our inpatient units.  While staffing in these multi-disciplinary patient care areas, residents have the opportunity to utilize their clinical skills and provide input in patient treatment plans.

Ascension is the nation’s largest not-for-profit health system and has a network of hospitals in Wisconsin. This connects pharmacy residents at Ascension NE Wisconsin - St. Elizabeth Hospital with projects that have site, state, and national impact.

Thank you for your interest in the Ascension NE Wisconsin-St. Elizabeth Hospital PGY-1 residency program.  I wish you the best of luck in finding the residency program that provides you the experience most suited to your goals.
